Book Review – The Americus Times-Recorder
Passing the Time

Recently, I was given a copy of the book, “Peace, Love, and Lemonade, a
recipe to make your life sweeter,” by Nancy Stampahar. Though the book is
packaged brightly, it is small enough to fit in your pocketbook or backpack
or briefcase without making it feel cumbersome. You have heard the cliché,
about smaller packages of dynamite can deliver a HUGE explosion or something
to that effect? Well, Stampahar makes this more than just a self-help book;
she delivers her poignant positive take on the old metaphor, “When life
hands you lemons, make lemonade,” with a loud bang. Instead of utilizing the
big technical words that most self-help writers seem to adore throwing in
their instructions on how to make the best of your life, Stampahar, in using
her on life experiences, keeps it simple, and shows how one can use
practical, everyday applications to live a happy and fulfilling life. It is
a good book to keep close by when you need a little pick-me-up, instead of
using that 400 grams of sugar you grab that comes in a plastic bottle, or to
keep in your bathroom for easy reading.

A crisis is a terrible thing to waste whether it is personal or national.
Underscoring the truth of this observation is "Peace, Love and Lemonade: A
Recipe to Make Your Life Sweeter" by organizational development consultant,
trainer, and keynote speaker Nancy Stampahar who uses her own life
experiences to illustrate that every difficulty is an opportunity, every
tough circumstance, if dealt with intelligence, optimism, and creativity,
can prove to be instrumental in achieving something worthwhile in life.
Using such real-life examples as her own mother, a single parent welfare
mom, whose perseverance and hard work resulted in the earning of a law
degree, her intellectually-disabled brother's personal courage, and herself
having been a high school dropout, demonstrate that Nancy has 'walked the
walk' as well as having 'talked the talk'. Highly recommended reading that
is as practical as it is inspiring, "Peace, Love and Lemonade: A Recipe to
Make Your Life Sweeter" is a welcome addition to personal self-help,
self-improvement reading lists.

Even
with insurmountable odds at all sides, it doesn't mean one can't overcome
the odds to improve one's life. "Peace, Love, and Lemonade: A Recipe to Make
Your Life Sweeter" is a collection of Nancy
Stampahar's reflections and anecdotes about her family and how in spite of
anything holding them back, they moved forward and greatly improved their
lives. Her mother overcame single parenthood for her degree, and
Nancy herself overcoming the lack of a diploma,
"Peace, Love, and Lemonade" is a great story that will inspire readers to
overcome what life lays in front of them.
